I hate when there are mosquitos everywhere, it’s already dark, and you have to open the tent somewhere deep in the forest. But the feeling of waking up, unzipping the tent, and being already surrounded by pure nature? It’s so worth all the effort and little discomfort.
Those peaceful mornings are the reason why I love camping. 🌲⛺
That’s why I prepared this camping essentials for women checklist for girls like me, who craves simple summer adventures! Whether you’re new to camping or a nature lover at heart, having the right gear makes all the difference—it can turn a stressful night into a magical one.
Sleeping in a hotel won’t give you that close-to-nature experience. But making that first cup of coffee right on the beach or in the middle of the woods? That’s pure magic.
So, here’s my tried-and-tested Camping Essentials Checklist that I always use on my summer outdoor trips. You can copy, save, or print this list for your next getaway. ✔️
Table of Contents
🏕️ Essentials for Camping Checklist
🧳 Sleeping Gear
- Tent (waterproof, easy to set up)
- Sleeping bag (summer or 3-season depending on location)
- Sleeping pad or air mattress (a good night’s sleep = non-negotiable!)
- Pillow (or a small inflatable one)
- Warm socks for the night (even in summer it gets chilly!)
- Lightweight blanket or liner (for extra coziness)

🔥 Camp Life Essentials
- Gas bottle + mini stove (for coffee, soups, or quick meals)
- Moka pot or portable coffee maker ☕ (I always start my day with forest coffee!)
- Headlamp or flashlight (+ extra batteries)
- Firestarter/lighter or waterproof matches
- Reusable water bottle — I’m still using my Hydro Flask that I bought 5 years ago for 40 euro. It was totally worth it! It keeps my water cold and my coffee hot.
- Foldable camping chair or mat — super comfy if you’re traveling by car. If you’re going by train or bus, pack only what’s truly necessary.
- Trash bags (leave no trace!)

🦟 Bug & Sun Protection
- Mosquito spray (a must in the woods!)
- Tick protection (spray + always check your clothes after hikes)
- Sunscreen (especially for coastal campsites)
- Hat for sun protection 🧢
- Sunglasses
- After-bite cream (just in case!)

👚 Clothing Essentials
- Oversized, breathable T-shirt (my go-to for comfort!)
- Leggings or soft hiking pants
- Flip flops or sandals (perfect for beach camps or post-hike chill)
- Rain jacket or windbreaker
- Change of underwear + warm layers for cooler evenings
- Swimwear (because forest lakes and beaches are calling!)
- Buff or sun hat to protect your head

🌿 Why I Love It
I always say: “Two things I love the most are NATURE and MUSIC.”
Camping is when I breathe differently and reconnect with the earth. Waking up in nature with a cup of coffee is honestly my favorite thing to do.

When I camp solo, it’s a moment for me to reflect. No talking, no distractions—just me, my coffee, and Mother Nature.
There’s such freedom in the simple things—gathering wood, making coffee, washing your face in a mountain stream, lying under the stars. ✨
And even though it’s technically “roughing it,” bringing the right essentials makes it way smoother. Trust me—forgetting mosquito spray once will teach you a lifelong lesson. 😅
🧘♀️ Final Tips for a Smooth Camping Experience
- Pack light but smart. Think multi-use items. I used to make the mistake of packing too many clothes—and ended up wearing the same comfy leggings, flannel, and oversized T-shirt every day.
- Take your most comfortable shoes. You don’t want sore feet.
- For city breaks, I always use my most comfortable On shoes.
- For hiking, I wear my stable hiking boots.
- For beach time: my beloved Birkenstocks.
- Check the weather. If storms or rain are expected, avoid mountains or forest camps—it can be risky and not fun.
- Leave no trace. Always clean up after yourself and respect nature.
- Download offline maps. You might not have signal in remote areas.
- Don’t forget snacks. You burn more energy outdoors than you think!
